Pedro Miguel Gonzalez Pulido is an artist of incredible talent and heart.
his work is featured in museums, galleries and private collections
throughout the world.

He is one of the top artists in cuba. he recently organized an international
workshop of 17 sculptors (5 from cuba, 5 from spain, 5 from the united states,
and 2 from italy) to create "la puerta de la amistad" (the door of friendship):
a monumental sculpture composed of 17 separate pieces that has been installed
in Havana. His resume is long, the accomplishments many.

One of the largest of these pieces is titled "jinetera"
(cuban slang for prostitute, literally translated as the jockey
or the one who rides the horse) and is a social commentary
on the blight of prostitution that has recurred in cuba
since the collapse of the soviet union and the economic
consequences of what is known in cuba as the
special period (periodo especial).
